The popular new HBO series Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ran a long segment Sunday night on payday lending in the United States.
The news/humor/satire program (which is excellent, by the way) focused mainly on the political connections of payday lending executives, mostly on the state level, and the machinations some payday loan operations go through to dodge regulation.
