Batavia, NY has been selected as the site of a third location for Pioneer Credit Recovery, the fast-growing debt collection firm that already employs 850 in Arcade and Perry.
The company announced Thursday it will create 200 jobs in the city in the coming months, and 450 in the next few years, when it opens a new site, perhaps as soon as October.
Pioneer Credit will initially be leasing space Genesee County Economic Development Corp.’s incubator on Mill Street in downtown Batavia. The first employees could be in the building by October. In the coming year, Pioneer Credit is expected to start construction on a 60,000-square-foot building in Batavia’s Gateway Industrial Park, located just north of the New York State Thruway.
“This is another great success story for Batavia,” said Matt Coppler, Batavia city manager.
Charles Gargano, chairman of the Empire State Development Corp., said his agency put together a package of incentives to help convince Pioneer Credit to put the center in Batavia. Pioneer Credit had considered a number of out-of-state options including an offer from Pennsylvania.
