A Fortune 500 company will bring more than 200 much-needed jobs to the Southern Tier.

General Revenue Corp., a subsidiary of SLM Corp. – commonly known as Sallie Mae – will move into the former World Kitchen headquarters in Big Flats, NY.

The company said it expects to create 220 jobs.

Based in Cincinnati, General Reserve Corp. is a debt collection agency specializing in education-related loans. Founded in 1981, it provides default prevention and default collections services.

The company said it will invest $4.7 million to purchase, renovate and equip the 60,000 square-foot former World Kitchen building in the Airport Corporate Park.

The offices are expected to be operational by the end of the year. The company said it plans to continue investing in the area and could eventually employ up to more than 400 workers in Big Flats.

“We are absolutely delighted to have General Revenue Corporation coming to Big Flats,” said Mary Ann Balland, Big Flats town supervisor. “It could not come at a better time for our community.”
