Visa USA assures consumers they won’t need a team of cartoon superheroes — Bang! Pow! Zoom! — to protect against debit card theft in its newest Super Bowl advertisement.

The ad is a humorous take on how payment card companies are luring customers with security promises, whether against identity theft or actual loss. Industry analysts expect the use of debit cards, which directly charge a customer’s bank account, will surpass that of paper checks at U.S. store registers as early as this year.

Visa’s 30-second commercial will air during the first half of this year’s championship football game on Feb. 6, the biggest single U.S. television event where such spots cost advertisers as much as $2.4 million.
