Americans continue to pile more debt on their credit cards – and get more plastic, a recent survey shows.


The average amount of credit-card debt carried by an American is $2,627 this year, up nearly 15 percent from $2,294 last year, according to a survey by Myvesta, a nonprofit consumer education organization. Plus, Americans carry an average of 2.9 credit cards, up from 2.3 last year, the annual survey shows.
