WATERTOWN, NY – A discount furniture store will repay 23-thousand dollars to military families and other consumers who took part in a financing program under which furniture was repossessed after one missed payment.

State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer says state prosecutors didn’t think that The Junction in Watertown intentionally broke the law. He said store owners cooperated fully once they were made aware their actions were “aggressive, improper and illegal.”

As part of a special financing offer, the store required soldiers to sign contracts that allowed the store to garnish wages – with hefty interest charges – after a single late payment.
