Consumers earned and spent more in May, but price increases negated the rise in wages, the Commerce Department reported Friday.
Incomes and spending were up 0.4% last month, but consumer prices also increased 0.4%. The all-important core prices index ? which factors out food and energy prices ? rose 0.2%.
The numbers were roughly in line with analysts expectations.
