There are new developments on the 10 discovery of personal documents left behind GC Services, a collection agency with offices in Columbus, OH.
Two weeks ago, the 10 Investigates team found customer information on hundreds of people in the dumpster behind GC Services Columbus office. The company says it's always shredded every confidential document. It believes the information was planted by someone trying to embarrass the company and has filed a report with Columbus Police.

"They've known about it for years. They've done it for years," says one former employee who doesn't believe GC Services story that someone with a grudge planted confidential documents in the collection agency's trash and then tipped off 10-Investigates. She says she quit GC Services Columbus office in 2001 and agreed to talk about her two years with the company if we concealed her identity.
"Paperwork, documents with social security numbers on it, said the former employee. "There was no shredding. We just threw it away."
When 10-Investigates checked GC Services dumpster late last month we found hundreds of confidential documents on 449 people from Ohio and 21 other states. The documents included customer account information from student loan agencies in New York, Michigan and Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae is the national company that guarantees loans to millions of current and former college students like Ohio resident Staci Regan. A customer account statement for Regan was one of the documents 10 Investigates found in the dumpster behind GC Services Columbus office.
