Municipal Services Bureau (MSB), Austin recently sent out letters on behalf of several Texas government offices reminding people with outstanding warrants to make payment in full on outstanding fines while they still have a chance.

On Saturday, MSB begins its “Warrant Round-Up,” working with Texas courts to enhance the collection efforts of Texas cities and counties. During the roundup, law enforcement officials concentrate on arresting residents with outstanding warrants from any of the participating jurisdictions. During last year’s round up MSB sent out 100,000 notices to debtors urging them to pay any outstanding fee or face arrest.

“We are giving defendants the opportunity to clear their name before the annual statewide Round-Up begins,” said Med Fadel, MSB’s CEO, in a prepared statement. “We’re doing our part to expedite the process of bringing these accounts to closure, especially since it may just be a forgotten obligation, or fees.”

MSB has taken part in the roundup notification effort for several years, added Bruce Cummings, the company’s chief marketing officer. “Most people would rather pay than face the threat of arrest. There’s always a significant bump in collections as a result of the roundup.”

In addition to several Texas jurisdictions, MSB handles collections for hundreds of other government agencies throughout the country, Cummings said.
