MSB Granted Texas Multiple Award Schedule for Collections

October 3, 2007

Government collection agency Municipal Services Bureau announced that they were granted a multiple contract award from the state of Texas for collection work.

Digg!
What's this?

Collection agency Gila Corporation announced Tuesday that its primary business unit, Municipal Services Bureau, had been awarded a contract by the state of Texas that will allow it to go after multiple collection contracts in the state on a faster track.

The Texas Multiple Award Schedule (TXMAS) contract allows companies with a federal General Services Administration (GSA) contract to offer those same services in Texas on a multiple award schedule contract. Austin, Texas-based Municipal Services Bureau (MSB) was added to the GSA’s collection contract vendors list in August (“Gila Corporation Awarded Federal GSA Collection Contract,” 8/20).

Bruce Cummings, chief marketing officer at MSB, told insideARM.com that the TXMAS contract makes it easier for companies to react to and qualify for RFPs issued at the state level. “TXMAS is a blanket contract for the state of Texas,” said Cummings.

Patrick Swanick, the company’s CEO, said in a press release, "We continue to expand our reach as a company and these state contract awards allow our prospective clients in Texas much simpler access to our services."

MSB already does plenty of collection work in the state. Cummings said that the agency has around 300 collection clients, mainly municipalities, in Texas and works on a state contract through the Department of Public Safety. MSB also does government collection work in about 20 other states. Around 200 of Gila Corporations roughly 280 employees are dedicated to MSB’s government collections work.

Cummings noted that MSB is also pursuing multiple contract award contracts in other states, such as California.

MSB decided to pursue the federal GSA contract earlier this year so that it could compete for large national collection contracts such as the upcoming expansion of the IRS contract and the Department of Education contract, according to Cummings. Companies must meet extensive requirements and undergo a stringent qualification process to be considered for a GSA contract award.
