Reed Elsevier, the Anglo-Dutch publishing company, on Thursday said it reached an agreement to buy the public record information-provider Dolan Media Company.
Social Security Search. Bankruptcy Information. Directory Assistance (EDA). Real Estate Listings. Death Index.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Reed said Dolan, a Minnesota-based business, generated revenues of about $44m in the twelve months to March, 2003.
The move is part of a wider plan by Crispin Davis, chief executive of Reed, to make small, "bolt on" acquisitions that are easy to integrate and fill gaps in some of Reed's content offerings.
The business would be integrated with Reed's legal division, LexisNexis. The Dolan public records business aggregates public information, including bankruptcies, civil judgements, and eviction notices.
