LexisNexis Launches Screening and Identity Verification Solutions for Government

LexisNexis Risk & Information Analytics Group, the trusted leader in enabling government agencies to transform data into mission-critical decisions, today announced the launch of the Screening and Identity Verification component of its LexisNexis® Advanced Government Solutions offering. LexisNexis® Screening and Identity Verification Solutions combine best-in-class data, data fusion, advanced scoring and policy-compliant tools for enabling government agencies to effectively authenticate identities, conduct background screening and detect fraud.

Along with LexisNexis® Intelligence Analysis Solutions and LexisNexis® Investigative Solutions launched earlier this year, LexisNexis® Screening and Identity Verification Solutions provide a more comprehensive offering to meet the most complex decisioning challenges faced by federal, state and local government agencies.

Identity verification is the cornerstone of government screening programs developed to establish trust between agencies and those seeking access or a privilege. Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and the REAL ID Act are both key policy initiatives developed by the government in the wake of 9/11 to provide policy guidelines and standards for the secure issuance of credentials, such as smart cards and drivers’ licenses. Both mandates will require strong, multi-layered identity authentication protocols to ensure credentials are issued only to those entitled to receive them. Identity verification is also a critical component of the government’s efforts to mitigate the estimated $37 billion in improper payments paid by the federal government for entitlement programs.

LexisNexis® Special Services has an established track record of delivering and successfully implementing identity verification technologies in support of homeland security programs and led the development and deployment of the HAZMAT Screening Gateway for the Transportation Security Administration. The Screening Gateway is currently used to review and process applications for hazardous materials endorsements on commercial drivers’ licenses for applicants from all 50 states. The Gateway automates the fusion of data from multiple government databases and employs sophisticated scoring technologies against applicant information to assess risk based on government suitability standards.
