What's this?

You know the story: small town gets all angried up when the town doesn’t take care of its citizens – yet the citizens often don’t seem anxious to pay for the services they demand the town provides.

Take, for instance, Peachtree City, Georgia.

Peachtree City residents who failed to pay their annual stormwater fee will face a 27 percent surcharge if they don’t take care of the matter soon.  And if they still don’t take care of the matter?  Their accounts could be turned over to Revenue Discovery Systems, a collection agency.

Under the contract, the city would still get the full amount of the bills once they are paid. The annual bills range between $32 and $72 a year depending on the amount of impervious space on the lot.

Councilwoman Jusi-ann Rutherford would also like to see a list published of the folks with outstanding accounts.
