Last week, Jeff DiMatteo and Justin Berg, co-founders of collection agency American Profit Recovery (APR), surprised BankFive employee Ann Marie Valiquette not only with a 32” Flat Screen TV that she had won through a friendly client competition, but a $500 donation to the charity of BankFive’s choice in her name.

“It’s one thing to have a contest for your clients to reward them for their commitment to you,” Jeff DiMatteo said. “But it’s another thing to be able to share our profits with the community on behalf of our clients.”

Since the doors of APR opened it has had a vision of changing the collection industry towards a gentler, kinder approach. APR insists on this culture with its employees, clients, and the people they are asked to collect on.  APR advocates to change the industry and they are putting their “profits” back into the community to prove it.

APR is a nationwide third party collection agency that offers a very diplomatic approach to collecting. They use an early intervention program to help their clients get more of their money back in the door and keep their existing clientele.

“APR has changed my thoughts of a collection agency,” Ann Marie Valiquette, Assistant Vice President/Retail Operations of BankFive said. “The professional approach used definitely gets results. APR has been collecting for us for over 2 years and the results have been great.”

BankFive chose The Katie Brown Educational Program. KBEP was founded in early 2001 in response to the murder of Katherine Brown, a 20-year-old woman from Barrington, Rhode Island. Katie was killed by the young man she had dated off and on since high school. Board President Jay Kay was on hand for the check presentation.

“We continue to strive at showing how different we are in an industry that has had a negative reputation in the past,” Justin Berg said. “We want to resolve debt not collect it.”
