City Hires Collection Agency to Go After Utility Deadbeats

General Revenue has been assigned delinquent accounts – some dating back as far as 2000 – and will keep 18 percent of the money it collects for the city.

General Revenue has been assigned delinquent accounts – some dating back as far as 2000 – and will keep 18 percent of the money it collects for the city.  <i>If</i> it collects the money.  If not, Hamilton has a back-up plan in Cincinnati-based Knightsbridge Receivable Management.

The program is intended to collect the outstanding balances and to reduce the accumulation of future unpaid bills by handing the accounts over to the agency once they reach 60 days overdue. The goal is to keep the most money in the system as possible.
