California Creditors Bar Association to Discuss Collection Best Practices

Best practices, legislative updates, and compliance issues for attorneys and their staffs involved in consumer debt collection, credit grantors, and buyers and sellers of consumer debt are to be presented at the California Creditors Bar Association Annual Fall Education Meeting to be held Saturday, October 25, 2008. The half-day event, to take place at the Holiday Inn Burbank Hotel, also features an Installation Luncheon of new CCBA officers and Board and MCLE credits.

Sessions include: a panel of consumer and defense attorneys discussing best practices from their perspectives, current and pending California legislative issues significant to collection attorney practice, and a presentation on compliance audits and consumer attorney fees.

"Sharing and updating the latest in collection practices through CCBA’s Education Meetings has proven beneficial to all those who work in this specialized area of law," explains Bill Goldsmith, president of the largest creditors bar association in the western states. "As the voice of California’s collection attorneys, the CCBA provides a learning forum to enhance the practice and prepare for what’s ahead."

The CCBA Fall Education meeting is free to the first attorney of paid member firms of the CCBA. Additional member firm attorneys are encouraged to attend for $85 each and member staff are invited for $55 per attendee.
