What's this?

CACI International Inc. announced that it has been awarded a prime contract of $16 million for five years (one base year and four option years) by the Department of Defense. The award continues the company's support for the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system (DMLSS) at the Joint Medical Logistics Functional Development Center (JMLFDC) at Fort Detrick in Maryland. DMLSS is an automated information system that provides medical logistics, facility management, and medical maintenance support for U.S. Armed Forces at medical facilities worldwide … including field hospitals for warfighters in Afghanistan and Iraq.

CACI is currently supporting DMLSS Sustainment Activities at JMLFDC and the DMLSS-FM module for the U.S. Air Force. This new award enables CACI to broaden its support for DoD's joint services initiative to further define and refine development requirements for DMLSS. It also expands CACI's growth in the healthcare arena and continues the company's role as a provider of Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare logistics.

Under the terms of the contract, CACI will provide support for a broad range of new capabilities. Working with the DoD development team, the company will help identify the requirements for enhancing DMLSS services and providing quality assurance and documentation. The award covers five major areas, which include business systems modernization; an expanded database for users; more efficient integration of DMLSS systems into medical facilities; customer assistance in accessing information; and a medical logistics function that assures materiel reaches its destination, quickly and efficiently.

Paul Cofoni, President of U.S. Operations, said, "This strategic win validates our customer-first focus and our work at various sites where the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system is being developed and refined. It positions us for future success in supporting healthcare logistics for the Department of Defense."

According to Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, CACI Chairman, President, and CEO, "The Department of Defense award to support initiatives for medical facilities worldwide is gratifying, because it helps assure that critical medical supplies reach their destinations, from hospitals in the U.S. to field hospitals in combat zones. It's one more facet of CACI's continuing mission to support the nation in helping our warfighters."
