Enterprise Recovery Systems, Inc.® (ERS) was a proud sponsor of the Illinois College Advising Corps’ (ICAC) 4th Annual Financial Literacy Bowl. Held at the University of Illinois Chicago campus, 18 Illinois high schools competed for a chance to win thousands in college scholarship funds.

Developed by ICAC, the Financial Literacy Bowl was designed to encourage high school seniors to broaden their financial knowledge, thus becoming better prepared to make fiscal decisions throughout their adulthood. The ICAC was established by the University of Illinois (UI) as a program to not only increase college attendance, but also college completion, in low-income and first generation populations. Through the ICAC recent UI graduates work with these high school students, and due to their efforts, ICAC-engaged students are more likely to pursue higher education.

This year’s Financial Literacy Bowl had a total of 108 high school seniors who competed from all across Illinois, consisting of schools such as Kelly, Crete-Monee, Peoria Manual and more. The all-day event entailed a total of five rounds of competition, including semi-final and final rounds, in which panels of students were challenged with financially based questions. In-between the competitions students and guests could visit stations geared toward college planning, such as Packing for College and Mapping Your Future.

After a long day of electrified competition, the 4th Annual Financial Literacy Bowl completed with the top four schools winning college scholarships. ERS was honored to donate to the 3rd place winning team, Lanphier High School. The scholarship check was presented to Lanphier High School by Joe Miller, Manager, Business Development at ERS. The other winning schools were Springfield Southeast High School at 4th place, Hillcrest High School at 2nd place and Round Lake High School at 1st place. Sponsoring the Financial Literacy Bowl, and many other events like it, are part of the philanthropic philosophy ERS strives to promote.
