ACA International Education Foundation today announces the 2012 winners of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship, which is awarded to three post-secondary bound students.

First place winner Shea Nolan of Suwanee, Ga. will receive $3,000 to be used for her studies.  Second place winner Emily Warnes of Battle Ground, Wash. will receive $1,000.  Third place winner Austin Kemper of Jefferson City, Mo. will receive $1,000.

“ACA International Education Foundation is pleased to recognize the accomplishments of the 2012 Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship recipients and help support their academic pursuits,” said Chairman Chris Wunder.

Honoring the memories of Robert E. Loomer and Irvin “Dempsey” Mortenson, the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship is available annually to employees of the credit and collections industry and members of their family.  This year’s winners were selected from a pool of more than 20 applicants based on several criteria, including an essay about consumer financial literacy.

Founded in 1995, ACA International Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization focused on promoting consumer financial literacy.  It is the philanthropic arm of ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals. In addition to the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship, the Foundation created and promotes www.askdoctordebt.org, a valuable resource for consumers on debt collection and their rights.
