As CNN has previously reported, it’s no secret that suicides among veterans have been estimated to number at least 22 per day, or that financial pressures associated with returning to civilian life are undoubtedly a partial driver of these sobering statistics.

To recognize those companies working to reverse this trend, last Wednesday evening ARMing Heroes, the collection industry’s charity for military veterans, held its first-ever awards ceremony in Washington, DC, to honor ARM industry firms for their commitment to helping veterans struggling with financial difficulties.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the needs of military veterans facing collection problems like these past grant recipients.  Last year, the ARMing Heroes charity raised more than $50,000 during its fourth annual No Debts for Vets Charity Fundraising Drive, and as a result, close to 30 grants were awarded to struggling military vets.

TECH LOCK was given an award to mark its 2014 Force Multiplier designation in the Data Security & Compliance category, a designation that can be given to only one company per category in any given year. Also, 2014 Appreciation Awards were given to National Credit Services and Pioneer Credit Recovery to honor their efforts to raise money for military veterans facing financial difficulties.

The highest honor awarded on this night was a 2014 Corey Davis Award given to Coast Professional for going above and beyond the call of duty to raise money for military veterans.  As previously announced, the company raised more than $10,000 for veterans last year in a very short period of time.  This award is named in honor of Stephen “Corey” Davis, who sacrifices for our country and past difficulties are described on the ARMing Heroes website.

“We are so honored to be able to work with ARMing Heroes,” said Everett Stagg, President of Coast Professional. “The work that they are doing on behalf of the men and women who have given so much to this country cannot be overstated. Our veterans have put everything on the line – their families, their jobs, their lives – to be able to protect the ideals that make America great. As a veteran myself, it is very important to me to find ways to give back to our troops in any way we can,” Mr. Stagg concluded.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our employees,” added Brian Davis, CEO of Coast. “This particular cause hits very close to home for many of our staff,” continued Mr. Davis, “as they have family members who have served in the Armed Forces – or are veterans themselves. While philanthropy has always been a core value to the Coast family, it was amazing to witness our teams in action as they rallied to support ARMing Heroes. We are deeply honored to accept this award, as it belongs to each and every employee at Coast.”
